Why X-Rays are Essential in Modern Medicine

X-rays are wondrous invisible rays that possess the ability to traverse materials in a manner that visible light cannot. Their wavelengths, imperceptible to the human eye, range from 0.01 to 10 nanometers.

To give you an example, the tip of a fingernail is typically in the range of 0.5 to 1 millimeter. The tip of a fingernail is is about 50,000 to 100,000 times larger than an xray beam. We cannot see an xray without some type of equipment.

In this episode, explore X-rays’ discovery, mechanism, and applications in medical imaging, dentistry, industry, and research.

We will also discuss preparation for X-rays, radiographer training, and post-procedure steps, and of course safety when it comes to xrays
